JIM & RACHELLE CLAPP’s
1964 GTO
To tell the story about our 1964 GTO is like making a dream
come true. We found the car at the 1994 HOT AUGUST NIGHTS auction. I bought the
car after it went through the auction and did not meet the reserve price. My
wife, Rachelle grabbed the door handle and said either the Goat goes home with
us or she goes home with the goat……………. So, I had to do some
negotiating fast. The car was a frame-off restoration. I’m the second owner.
She’s a West Coast car from Fairfield, CA - all numbers match. She sports
Tri-Power, a Muncie four speed on a counsel with factory 390:1 rear end. When we
got her she was black on black exterior and interior, but since that time we
have been under going some evolution in the past several years. Last year I had
her appraised and documented. She has no rust anywhere. Never wrecked or bondoed
anywhere, no wires cut at all. Still has the factory in dash tach and an AM
radio that still works. She is listed in "CAR FACTS "#5 for your
viewing pleasure.
Sincerely,
JIM CLAPP
