Hi, my name is Jim Roseberry, and I joined the club
about a year ago at the Casa de fruita car show. I live in the Central
Valley in Stockton and I drive a red 1965 Pontiac Tempest convertible.
I got back into working on cars when I was helping my
niece’s husband build his 1966 Buick G.S. convertible. I really liked
working on the car and that body type. In the past I had owned several
Pontiacs. The first one was a 1949 Pontiac coupe. Next was a 1951 Pontiac
coupe. From there I went to 1958 Pontiac Super Chief semi-customized. The
last one that I had was a 1962 Pontiac Catalina with 421 Tri-Power that
was an old Mickey Thompson racecar. In the mid sixties I traded in my 1962
Pontiac on a new 1966 Dodge Charger. From that point on about the only
cars that I had until now were Mopars.
When I found the 1965 I was really looking for a 1968
to 1973 Corvette convertible. I had always wanted one with that body
style. But, on a visit to my sisters house, I saw the 1965 and all
thoughts of the Corvette went a way. I had remembered how I liked working
on my niece’s husband’s car, and so I ended up with the 1965 insted.
My 1965 has a 1968 350 cu.in. with a Power Glide out of a Fire Bird. Right
now it is painted Montaro red that was done before I got the car. On my
list of things to do are paint the car Capri Gold and install a 4-speed
back in to it. I have been slowly working my way around the car to get it
the way I would like, but as you all know that it is hard work and it
takes a lot of time to do things right. Now I’m driving the car daily
and I work on it as much as I can. I enjoy going to the runs and the car
shows with the Golden Gate Goats. It’s really been a good year, and I am
glad that I joined the club.
